Continuing Professional Development
Continuing Professional Development
Continuing professional development (CPD) is the ongoing acquisition of professional knowledge, skills and attitudes. It is one way in which physicians display their commitment to maintaining the highest standard of care for their patients.
Physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador are strongly encouraged to obtain certification from either the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons or the College of Family Physicians of Canada. In order to maintain certification, physicians are required by those colleges to enrol in the Mainpro® program of the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the MOC® program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Physicians in this province who are not certified are strongly encouraged to enrol in either the Mainpro® or MOC® program as one way of engaging in continuing professional development.
