The election held by the College to fill two seats for the area of the City of St. John’s and the City of Mount Pearl and to fill two seats for the remainder of the province finished on December 2, 2016. Voting took place online conducted by Simply Voting.
The College received 11 nominations by the time nominations closed on November 8, 2016. There were six candidates for the area of the City of St. John’s and the City of Mount Pearl and five candidates for the remainder of the province.
On December 5, 2016, the Chair of Council, Registrar, and Associate Registrar of Quality Assurance met to review the voting report from Simply Voting to certify the election results.
The following candidates were elected:
Area of the City of St. John’s and the City of Mount Pearl:
1. Dr. Kevin Hogan
2. Dr. Rebecca Rudofsky
Remainder of the Province:
1. Dr. Carl Sparrow
2. Dr. Tracey Wentzell
New Council members will be introduced to Council at its regular meeting on Saturday, December 10, 2016. They will take office on Monday, December 12, 2016.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador regulates the practice of medicine and the medical profession in the public interest under the Medical Act, 2011. The College is governed by a 15-member Council.
